When the War Legislation Amendment • Bill was before tho Legislative Council yesterday tho clause permitting dairy \ oompanies to-engage in tho manufacture « ot. rennet, casein, boxes, etc., was slight- « ly altered. the; original clause it was ■ provided that ; such manufacturing powers .should apply'orily during the duration of > - the war and for six months thereafter, *'• but this limitation was thrown , out *of ; tlio Bill, thus enabling dairy companies ■ ■ Si manufacture, such articles without any restriction of time. . '' H When the Bill returned to tlio'House 'of Representativesthe Prime Minister explained the change, of which, he said, ho quite approved.; Kennet, he added, ."-'.'was vital to the cheese-making factories, '1; 'and owing to-tho war its price had gone 'Tip he thought at least 20 times what it - -.was two years'ago.
