FOR THE EX-SOLDIERS' CHILDREN
SCHEME OF WAR BUKSAIUES. Tile New South Wales Bursary Endowment Board has framed a set of regulations t'o govern the giving of war bursaries to children of soldiers who have been incapacitated or died through active military service. 'iho objects of the bursaries are stated to be:—To assist the holder to complete his primary education and maintain him during the period of such education. To assist the holder to obtain a secondary education in a State school or in any school registered under the board. To assist the 'holder to gain an education iu an approved commercial, junior technical, or domestic science school. To assist the holder in learning a trade at a trade school, or otherwise continuing his education at the Technical College or an agricultural college. To assist in'maintaining the holder during such years of any apprenticeship in which tlTe wages for apprentices are insufficient for the support of the holder. To assist the holder to maintain himself during a University courso.
.the qualifications for the admission of the holder to any class of school will he the same as those required of other persons. The' Bursary Board will determine the amount of the bursary and the general conditions of its tenure in each case, according to the circumstances, though they will generally be in accord with those prescribed for buTsarie6 -under the Act.
An incapacitated soldier shall be defined as a soldier who, in the course of his military service, has been rendered unfit to follov; any avocation in such a war as to enable nim to provide an income equal to that prescribed for similar bursaries under the Act.
If the head of the 'family has been Killed or has died as the result of wounds or illness resulting from military service, no conditions as to income will be imposed. When the head, of fhe family returns alive but the board considers that his wage-earning power has bpen reduced by wounds, illness, or inability to secure employment such as lie had 'before enlistment, the applicant wili be assisted, the board determining in each oase the degree of assistance towards .Hie education of children in accordance with the degree of disability of the applicant.
