COMFORTS FOR SOLDIERS IN VICTORIA HOSPITAL

Sir,—Will you allow me space in your paper to raise my voice, together with Major Deck and "Bed Patient," to protest against the statements made by Dr. Thacker in tho House with referenco to the above? I was an inmate of the Victoria Hospital for over four months, and was only discharged on a few days' sick leave on August 1. During the whole of. my time there we had everything we could wish for in tho way of comforts. Motor-car rides wero an almost everyday affair, and supplies of presents and comforts from local, residents ,and various guilds seemed inexhaustible. I wish to especially mention the Salvation Army, whose representatives visited the Victoria Hospital twice a week regularly, and brought us socks, mufflers,' mittens, balaclava caps, handkerchiefs fruit, sweets, cakes, and scones. During my time in hospital we had numerous concerts and entertainments . given by local r aniateurs and also professionals. I have been a patient in several other hospitals, both public and private, and nowhere have I reoeived the emne and attention as I did in the Victoria Hospital. With regard to the owners' of tho thirty names Mr. "Wilford and Dr. Thacker claim to have who deny that tliey get these things, all I can. say is "wxir dears." It is very hard for Major Deck that these misstatements should have been made, as he did everything lie possibly could for us, and I feel confident thnt all patients who have been in his care will agree that no bettor or more popular man could hold his position as officer in charge of Victoria Hos. pital. Hoping you will find.space to publish this.—l am, etc., 1 G. W. KELI/S. August 3. ■
