A clause;inserted in tho War Legislation Amendment Bill last evening makes provision' for dairy, companies engaging in the manufacture of rennet to assist i the manufacture of. cheese. . This provided ';that: "Notwithstanding anything', iii-the Companies Act, 1908, or. in "'the memorandum or articles . of association of any company haying for its object or for. one of its objects tho manufacture of butter or of cheese, it shair'be flawful*" for ' such company, without complying with the provisions of the Companies Act, 1908, relating to -the alteration of the'memorandum or articles 'of association of companiesfa) To cari7 on tho business of the manufacture of rennet, casein, sugar of milk, or butter-boxes, or tho manufacture of any other article or product connected with or required for the dairy industry; or (b) -To; -purchase shares in, or to otherwise assist, any other company lawfullyTengaged in tho business of tho manufacture of any such articla or product as aforesaid. (2) This section shall continue in operation during, the present war with Germany and for six months thereafter, and'Biiall thereupon be deemed to be re- : pealed: Provided that the repeal of this •section shall- not affect ..the rights, .powers, privileges,' or obligations ' of' any company,'"..or i tlio. ..shareholders .of any company,•,which':inay liave exercised tho powers or any'bfr'tlie poivors conferred on it by this section before such repeal. *n so -far'-'as Buoti rights,/'.powers, privileges, or obligations are incident to tho exercise of such first-mentioned powers by that company.
