Christchurch, August 3 The Canterbury Branch of the Navy League has received the following cablegram from Lord Beresford"Tile Navy League Relief Committee definitely declines to hand money intended fo supplement t?!o provision made by Parliament to the Statutory Committee. The Government must not bo relieved of its obligations. Your money will bo urgently needed for special cases. This view is univorsally uphold here. Wo work in harmony with tho Statutory Committee, but they must not control nur special fund. Kindly publish cablegram. "(Signed) BERESFORD."
