THE FIRST STEP. _ The Minister of : Defence stated in the House yesterday that tho first steps in connection with , the operation, of the Military, Service Act had hecn taken .by the constitution of tho recruiting dis-. trictSy The number, ho said, was 21, or '' three in. excess of number of present group areas. Ono of the three new districts .would consist of the Comities of Waif oa, Cook, "Waikohu, and Waiapu, ■ with headquarters at Gisborno. Another ' would, compriso the Counties of Fast ; Taupfe, Whakatane, Rotorua ,and Opotiki, with headquarters at Rotorua, and tho, third would include the of Wangauui, Waitotara, Waimarino, Kaitieke, and Oh lira, with headquarters at Wanganui. Maps showing the boundaries of the various districts would be circulated throughout the Dominion in a few days. The boundaries of the districts, as far as possible, conformed to tho county boundaries. ■ ' * ===—== ' I •
