6 WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION MEETING. A meeting of the executive of tho War Relief Association of Wellington waßheld yesterday, Mr. W. Ferguson presiding. On the recommendation of the Finance Committee it was decided to authorise the transfer of .£IOOO to the imprest account for August. Since last meeting the following life members luive been elected:—Mrs. J. P. Firth, Dr. ,H. E. Gibbs, Messrs. E. L. Riddiford, H. P. Rawson, T. Ronayne, 1.5.0., H. H. Scaton, and J. P. Firth. It was resolved that tho deck chairs which had been placed at tho disposal of wounded soldiers who had returned by the Rotorua bo handed to tho Mayor (Mr.'J. P. Luke) for future use in connection with wounded soldiers. The report presented by the Married Women's Committee stated that tho question of arranging sub-cbiumittccs to visit the depcudants in each district had been discussed, and it had beeu arranged that tho matter bo placed beforo the execur tive of the Women's National Reserve. 'Miss E. Ward, lion, secretary of tho roserve, has since reported, that the association's rctjiiest has been favourably received, and-that a sub-committco has been set up to confer with the ladies who have been already assisting in this work, to consider with them tho best method of organisation. On tho motion of tho chairman a vote of thanks was passed to tho ladies of tho National Reservo for their action in the matter/ ~ Tho report of the Relief Committee stated that it had sat on eight occasions since last meeting of the executive, and had dealt with 177 applications ; The Government has announced its decision to increase tho children's allowance from 3s. Gd. to ss. a week per child as from Jiilv 1. Tho chairman stated that this had not yet como into force, but he presumed that back amounts would bo paid. Tho report was adopted.
