A CORRECTION

Sir,—The conclusion of iny speech at the early-closing meeting on Sunday suffered rather severely from the process of condensation to which you subjected it in your report. I did not say that "If the Churches had ployed their part, and religious peoplo had helped, there would have been no necessity for holding a protest meeting." Most of the people who helped, both before the Petitions Committee and on the platform, were emphatically religious people. What I said was: "If the Churches had played their part in the matter, if the religiuus world had been as deeply stirred by it as the business world was, then, etc., etc."—substantially as reported by vou. -I am, etc., A. B. ATKINSON. July 31.
