AN ANNOUNCEMENT. We have to announce that the second series of 1916 "Studebaker" cars are now on their way to New Zealand, per s.s. Patella, from Montreal, due to arrive shortly. • These oars come from the Oanndian assembling and finishing branch, Walkerville, Ontario, and are Temarkablo for their exceptionally fine finish, necessitated by the demands of the overseas Studebaker trade. Many valuable detail improvements are incorporated in the second series models, one of the most noteworthy of these being the provision of independent and separately adjustable front seats of the "bucket" type, together with adjustable pedals. This refinement should especially appeal to tho lady driver or the exceptionally tall or short man, whose comfort is not adequately provided for by the usual fixed dimensions in the front of. the car. Another important modification is the relegation of the petrol tank to the rear of tho car, and the provision of a very efficient vacuum feed to carburetter. There >aro manv minor modifications and improvements, all designed to add to the comfort and convenience of both driver and passengers, whilo in appearanco the car is handsomer than ever. The bow Studebakers will be on view at Studebaker Agencies shortly, and all interested in the latest developments in American automobile design are invited to inspect them. The Dyttelton Harbour Board, at yesterday's meeting, decided to pay a bonus of Sd. per 0»v to its employees during the war. Tho board passed a motion nskin" the Prime Minister to forward Home an"expression of tho Dominions appreciation of Mr. Asnuith's words about tho German atrocities.—Press Association. The Advisory Board oftho Federated Patriotic Societies decided yesterday that the Defence Department be asked to notify all Patriotic Sociotios when returned soldiers aro leaving for their homes, and in order to prevent exploitation of funds, that the societies affected bo notified of all discharges from camp. Rule 21 of the War Relief Associatiou of Wellington, reads: Any person who has contributed £o ss. to the funds of the association shall bo a life momber," and on account of the Finance Committeo haying informed the Victoria University; College Graduates' Association, who had donated £i->s. to the funds, that the president of that body had been elected a Mo member, considerable discussion arose at yesterdav's meeting of tho executive of tho War Relief Association. It was contended by several speakers' that as the president of tho- Graduates' Association was not a permanent official a life membership could not apply to tho position. Only an individual should be elected a life member, and then only by a personal contribution. It, was pointed out that if tho president of the Graduates' Association wevo elected, then a number. of peoplo could contribute i'o , 55., and appoint one of their number to be nomkated as a lifo member, which was manifestly unfair. It was also contended that if tho above was established as a precedent, then a member's subscriptions and donations, amounting to £o 55., entitled him to a life membership. As this was not Iho spirit of the rule, it was decided that a letter of apology lie written to tho College Graduates' Association pointing out that a mistake had been made, and asking thorn to withdraw their nomination for a life-membership. : Busy?
