THE TIVOLI FOLLIES. To-night will witness the return lo Wellington of the popular Tivoii follies, which Mr. Hugh I). M'lntosh will present for a season of ten nights at tho Grand Opera House. No fewer than 60 performers will' bo associated with the new. queen,. Miss Vera. Pcarce, tho Australian "Boomerang Girl," whose singing and dancing a/re said to bo on a, high plane, and her numbers to-night will include "Backetty Coo," "The Kept fit Girl,", Honolulu and Boi Poi Banco, and "Whole Town Wise." Tholma Kaye is a new comedienne, and will be heard in "China Town" and in "January," while her speciality acts with Prank Greene,. Jack Cannot, and Walter Weems are described as being full of laughter. Jock Cannot' returns with a big batch of songs and jokes, and his "Spanish Joe from Mexico," with the artist in the robes ,of a toreador, is said to be a scream. "Colonel K'nut" is an advanced version of his "Gilbert the Filbert," while the patriotic song, "Good-bye Mary Jauo and Lou," is * expected to arouse enthusiasm. The three now comedians, Walter Weems, George Welch, and Billy Rego, will be ,'seen in several specialty acts, including "Piano Movers," "Brussels Sprouts," . "Oscar in' Trouble," and a humorous bar scene, as well as in individual items. Frank Greene, in addition to introducing "Molly' Dear," will be heard in'Canimaert's stirring poem, "The Carillon," this being a tale of Belgium's suffering, set to music by .Sir Kdward Elgar. In this Mr. Greene will havo tho assistance of the Belgian Band. Mr. Greono wears the uniform of a Belgiun private, this uniform belonging to one of tile members of the band, who was at tho siege of Liege. Jean Keith's solo dances will include "Tho Soul of Champagne". and other specialities. Ella Gaspers will be heard in songs both classical and popular, while' a comedy team in Short and Little will demonstrate something new in tunihlinjfV HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. This weoic's'programme at His Majesty's Theatre contains the Le Blanc's Musical Travesty" Stars, a revue company who aro making their first appearance in Wel« lington under this name. They are a bright and'musical band, and cause much laughter with their latest farce,, entitled "Fuzzy, Wuzzy," which consists -of a visit to a salon at Monte Carlo of a couple of "stony-broke" Jews, who play poker with, a pack of aces, and generally keep things "booming." Messrs.- C. King and R. Drum and Miss Virginia Thornton also put on a comedy farce, ontitled "Two of a Kind," and Mr. Georgo Dixon received a good hearing with his varied musical;. instruments. Man* and Evans, a couple •of clever ground tumblers; the Twoi Kerlines, acrobats; and Miss Nina Alix are also on tho pro. gramme.. . • ■ THE KING'S. "Bullets and Brown Eyes," the feature film at the King's Theatre this week, is one of those romantic stories, such as Anthony Hope delighted in tolling, and as a motion picture it can be compared more than favourably with such films as "Prisoner of Zenda and . "Rupert of Hentzau." Miss Bessie Ba'rriscale and William Desmond score decided hits as the Countess and the Prince, the two leading characters. A supporting programme includes physical exercises, 6liown by/' the -remarkable slow photographic process, and other good numbers. The present programme will be screened up to and including the matinee on Saturday. The new programmes in-future will be screened on Saturday nights. EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. , This week's star item at Every body's Theatre is a Londou Film Company's four-part drama, "Charity Ann," featuring Elizabelh Reidon. The story mainly deals with Ann as a poor little waif of the London slums, who collects pennies for her father, a blind fiddler, who has taught her to play the violin, and inafter years Ann becomes a popular; star of the* musical world, She.'meets a,man -.v'hose niorals aro more or less loose,'and consequently Ann has' to fight against him and herself. In the end she conquers, and both find peace and happiness together. A very laughable KejiJtone production presents Ford -Mace in "The Janitor's Wife's Temptation." Altogether the programme is on excellent one. EMPRESS THEATRE. This week's programme at the popular Empress Theatre is headed by a stirring dramatic picture, "From Out of the Big Snows," a drama with a gorgeous scenic background and a vitally interesting story, in which the best of the Vitagraph Company .players are seen. Another notable feature is the one-act dramatic study, "The Orgy." The comic portion of the programme is teeming with screaming situations. The French offi.cial war film, "General Million's Defences at Salonika," is a highly interesting subject,. ■as is .the latest , European "Gazette." DRAMATIC RECITAL. ' On Saturday- evening next, in the Concert Chamber, Mr. Culford Bell and Mis 3 Betty Purdom are giving one of their popular entertainments. The programme is ono of interest, most of the items being presented in character, with appropriate dressing, and will be contributed to by. the adult pupils of these teachers. The principals, themselves will present an entirely new comedy sketch, entitled "Oh. Dick!" This sketch is full of comic situations, and is sure to create great merriment. Two very amusing comediettas will also, be, . presented. The proceeds are to bo handed to the Mayor's Sailors' Dependants' Fund. Seats may be reserved at the Bristol. SUNDAY CONCERT. A popular programme has beeu selected for tho next Sunday concert' to bo given by the Wellington Professional Orchestra at His Majesty's Theatre. Tho outstanding items will be Liszt's second "Hungarian Rhapsody," a fantasia on Mascagni's famous opera, "Cavallcria Rustieana," and Weber's "Der Frei6chutz"' overture. Lighter items will include Drdla's "Serenade," and Luigini's "Ballot Egyptien." Mr. Herbert' Bloywill conduct. A silver coin collection will.be taken up at the doors.
