STOCK TRAIN DERAILED
SEVERAL TRUCKS SMASHED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, August 1. A .telephone message received from Darfield after II o'clock to-night, says that.a goods train from Arthur's Pass ran into a slip at Avoca, tho engine being pajtially derailed and several trucks smashed. Tho train, was carrying'live stock from the West Coast to Addington market for to-morrow's salo. No further details are available "to-night. '
