The mine m.'/nager reports as follows on the progress of the work at No. 2 shaft for the ipast week:—ln the drive north, on the reef at the -300 feet level, 9 additional feet have been driven, making tho total distance from starting-point 117 feet; this measurement does not include the 13 feet of cross-cutting inio\the east and west walls of the reef. On account of meeting with a, break the reef has been slightly disturbed, • but the appearance of quartz in face is now in colour, accompanied with plenty of 'mineral pyritis. We also appear to he entering a iirmer class of andosito country, aud may expect a favourable change in the reef system as the drive advances. This face is kept going in a true northerly, direction, and tests e,ro being made at intervals of oil quartz met with. ■. The machinery is . working well, and. the water in the shaft is giving little or iio trouble.
