A SILLY RUMOUR
DENIAL BY ME. MASSEY. A. silly rumour was laid low by the Trimc Minister on Saturday afternoon, when he said that he had been asked by an intending soldier whether it was correct that from the time the 15th Reinforcements went on board ship their pay would bo reduced to 2s. per day in accordance with the instructions' of the Imperial authorities. "There is_ not the slightest truth in the nniioin 1 ," .said Mr. Minssey. He added that lie believed, that if the Imperial rate (if pay wern offered to New Zealanders they would still come forward, but he did not see any reason for reducing the rate of pay which they were being given.
