Italy could be bought off : ,vith the cession, of Trentiuo, and peace might then be arranged, giving up Belgium, Northern Prance, and a portion of the Alsaiian Vosges 'in return, Belgian aud French C'onj;o. Britain and the Boers could be mollified by giving up South-West Africa, German}' relinquishing New Guinea, and the adjoining islands to gratify Australia, in return for British East Africa, and 'possibly Angola. Germany would then settle with Russia, and demand increased territory in Courland and the Vistula, relinquishing the rest of Russian Poland in return for a commercial treaty.
