SHOCKING TRAGEDY IN THE NORTH

Telephone messages receired by the "Herald" to-night indicated that a shocking mimler had been committed at Mangapehi, 17 miles from 'l'e Iti. it appear* that a .nhepherd named Kenneth Livingstone was shot dead by an unknown assailant, and that the inannger ol tho run on whiili Livingstone, worked, C. S. MacForlane, was seriously infilled. MiicFni'lane cmyled ten miles to the telegraph office and communicated with the police. Details of the crime are vague, and the identity of the murderer is unknown.
