CLEARING-HOUSE FOR MILK
-4 STILL IN THE AIR. .Til the coursii of a discussion on tho proposed clearing-house for Wellington's .milk, at the City Council on Thursday, .Councillor 11. I'. Luckio said that owing to the peculiar configuration of tho country in the vicinity of Wellington, and tho increasing price dairy fanners were going to get for butter-fat, an adequato supply of milk Of a satisfactory rjufility wa9 going to become increasingly difficult as time went on, and it would, be found that they would 'hare to go farther afield for their milk in llic future. For that reason they should lose no time in getting a silo for a clearing-house, when they would be in a bettor position to make contracts with suppliers. Councillor Hiklrefch could not see how tho existince of a clearing-house was going to make any difference in getting a bettor raiLk supply. As a mattor of fact, there was divided opinion, even' among the dairy farmers, as to whether tho clearing-house would prove as valuable as somo people made out. Councillor Godber thought it was time they did something definite, and he thought. they could now bring down a resolution that would brine it to a head. He, personally, was absolutely tired of the whole business.
