A TEACHERS' GRIEVANCE
L_»_ ' SUPERANNUATION PAYMENTS. , Teachers who toko evening classes at technical schools have for long had a grievance in respect of superannuation payments. They have to pay superannuation in respect of fees earned by this work, but if it happens, as it usually does, that they are not teaching technical school classes in the throe years bofore they retire, they do not get any benefit from v theso payments in their superannuation. Mr. W. H. Field asked a question in the House yesterday on this subject. He asked the Minister of Education to introduce legislation to removo this "glaring ' injustice." The Hon. J. A. Hanan snid he recognised that those tenchers associated with tonhnical school work had somo claim to relief in the direction indicated. There was a difficulty at present in securing a cortain class of instructors owing to the war. He proposed to'submit a clause for the consideration of Cabinet to deal with the matter, _ but as had been 6aid, it was the desire of the Government not to introduce- measures in Amend Acts unless they : had a direct bearing on tho war. He intended to consider favourably the request of the honourable member. . '
