THRILLING STORY OF THEIR VALOUR. TURKISH STAMPEDE. ■ ERZINGAN; I FLAK, ' THE RUSSIAN SWEEP. The heroes of Gallipoli the heroes of Pozieres, described by some as the worst battle of jthe whole war. Haig's order: "Pozieres must bo taken," was loft to tho Anzacs and the London Territorials to carry out, and though each in tho truo British spirit insists that the other made the-best fight of it,'tho testimony of an officer of tho London Territorials reveals the general feeling of admiration for tho stalwarts of Anzac. His tribute, and other accounts of this grim conflict, furnish a most inspiring contribution to tho war news to-day. "Hail to the Anzacs!" was the wolcomo to thojirst of our wounded as tliey reached tho British lines. The capturo of Pozieres is another completed point in the general scheme of the offensive, and preparations are now in train for'a grand sweep down tho further slope of tho hard-won plateau, after a few essential preliminaries have been attended to. From tho Russian theatre the leading feature of the news relates to the drive in tho Caucasus. Erzingan has fallen, and is in flames, while the Turkish retreat has beoomo a stampede. On the Russian European front the enemy is now thoroughly; alive to tho danger of his situation, and in the words of ono correspondent "surprises are no longer possible." General SakharofE's recent victories have thrown .the enemy's Vans into confusion.
