THE BEGINNING OF THE. HOUSE OF STUDEBAKER. • ''The Butch ancestors of Mr. J. M. Studebaker, one of the founders and present chairman of the Board of Directors of the Studebaker Corporation, Detroit and Canada, migrated from Holland in 1736, nearly 200 years ago, and sailed for America. In 1552, sixty-four years ago, the Studebakers made the first wagons at their blackmith's 6hop, South Bend, Indiana. Prom then onwardsthey have built up the great Studebaker Corporation with a capital to-day of over eight million pounds sterling. In the Boer war Lord Eoberts pronounced Studebaker wagons the best ever used .by the British Army. For the present war Great Britain's purchases from the Studebaker Co. have aggregated four million pounds sterling. The Russian Government ordered one thousand Studebaker cars, and the French Government have been enormous purchasers from the Studebaker Co. during the present war. Studebakcr's pride is to build honestly and well, and they have been rewarded by large orders from the Allies. A limited number of Studebaker cars are arriving ex Pnkeha, having been shipped at Montreal from the Studebaker Canadian factory at Walkerville, Ontario. Messrs. CANADIAN CHEVROLET SHIPS / TRAINLOAD. What is said to bo the largest train' load of automobilos over eont orer Cana-" dian rails has boon shipped by tho Chovrolot Motor Co., of Canada. It contained two hundred Chevrolet cars on a singlo consignment from Oshawa, Ont., to the Broen Motor Car Co., of Winnipeg, the Western agent for the company. It is tho second largest consignment this spring, and illustrates tho speed of Chevrolet production, in that tho Chevrolet Motor Car Co. has carried on the building of automobiles in Canada only 6ince December, 1915. Tho Dominion Motor Vohioles, Ltd., 65 Courtecay Place, aro tho controlling agents for this line throughout Now Zealand, and will be pleased to show intending purchasers this car, also to arrange for demonstrations.—Advt.
