MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE CASES
Mr, W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided at tho Magistrate's Court yesterday. Francis Conway Allen,'who was found helplessly drunk in Ghuznee Street, was remanded for medical treatment. Lillian Jukes, who appeared on remand, pleaded guilty to using obscene language on July 17, and was fined 205., and ordered to pay medical expenses 17s. 6d., default being fixed at seven days' imprisonment. , ' Bertha Ogden, who is still in hospital, was remanded to August 1 on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond, and with" having, no visible means of support. George O'Brien, an American, and a seaman on the s.s. 'Florence Luckenbach, was charged with disobeying the lawful commands of tho master of the. vessel on tho high seas, and was remanded until to-day. William. Thomas Newman, who was before the Supreme Court on Monday for sentence, and was discharged on a technicality, and,immediately rearrested,appeared before the Magistrate on a charge of breaking and entering and theft, and was remanded to Friday. . E. E. Clifford, letter-carrier, of Nelson, arrested here in connection with the alleged theft of postal orders from letters, wus remanded to appear in the .southetii. town.

JUDGMENT SUMMONSES: In a judgment summons case, Te Heu Heu TuWno was ordered to pay the Publio Trustee (as administrator of the estate of Robert Ross, deceased) the sum _of dBI4B 145., on or before October 24, in default to' undergo one month's •imprisonment. T. Boftrdfnan was ordered to pay Jack Jacobus £2 Ms. by August 8, default being fixed at forty-eight hours' imprisonment. • . . . DEFENDED .CASES. .. Gottlieb Bros., cabinetmakers, were nonsuited, and ordered to pay solicitor's fee, 215., in their action, against J. E|Brydges, a claim of £U Cs.Od.i for stock and fitting 3 supplied. ''
