SHOT BY POACHERS
ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY'S RANGER INJUttED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July 25. James Main, the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society's ranger at Lake Ellesinere, was shot at-by a poacher whom ho endeavoured to apprehend on Sunday night, one pellet lodging in his right thigh, and another just above the right eye. A. fenmonths back he was assaulted by a party of poachers and injured about the head, the offenders never being brought to justice.
