BOYS' INSTITUTE
At .tho Wellington Boys' Institute on Thursday evening last, . Mr. Salmon, representing the Wellington Football Asso'. oiation, delivered a lecture to, the boys on the rules of the "Soccer" game. Altogether over 40 players attended the meeting, when tho finer points of the gamo were explained in a very capable manner. The director reports that badges have just arrived from London for tho use of the Institute members. The badge is very prettily designed, the letters "B.I." are interwoven and enamelled in the Institute's colours—chocolate and gold. Recognising.the good work done by the Royal Life Saving. Society, the Institute have offered the society the ontire use of the- baths, free of cost, for the purposes of holding a carnival, to demonstrate to the public the art of life-saving. The carnival will be held on' August IG, the Institute making the stipulation that the public will be admitted free of charge. Further, the Boys' Institute, in conjunction with the Royal Life Sawing Society,- are quite prepared to teach the public life-saving free of, all instructional fees. Tho same applies to swimming, which will be taught free of cost. Classes are now being formed, and those gesirous of joining should forward their names to Mr. F. Ross, Director, Boys' Institute, Wellington. The water at the Public Tepid Swimming Baths at first was tor from 6atisfactory, having rather' an unpleasant colour, but at last tho efforts of the Manage, nient Committee have been crowned with success, and the water has now a pretty, greenish tint
