CAMP NOTES
A temporary canvas camp has been mude near the railway at Trentham, consisting of Indian service ten'ts,' several marquees to be used as storehouses ana a iflokhouse. This is for the' accommodation of that portion of tho Fifteenth Keinforcements which will not, leave Trentham before the influx of the men of the Nineteenth • Reinforcements. As was the case with .the four companies' of the Twelfth Reinforcements, which occupied'a similar camp under similar .circumstances, the troop will be quite independent oi' the main camp, ami' will be given experience oE field, c.onditioiis. The field bakery at Trentham continues to-meet all the demands of tho earrip asTegards quantity and quality of .bread, as well as being tho'training ground for a number of A.S.C. men of every Reinforcement in camp. On' account of, the latter aspect, the bakery was not pro•vided with any shelter against 'the ■weather. It flas, howover, been- found' necessary to erect a roof over the ovens, the number of which is also bejng inCreased. Tho framework_ of tho roof, Jnade of railway metal, is in position, ami galvanised iron roofing will Ik placed tapon it during this, week: Other' improvements to 'the bakery buildings, are being ''made. Tho business put through by the Trentham Camp Post Office has increased steadily since tho establishment of tho "ofHce, necessitating the employment of a larger staff. During busy weeks, such •as last week, ovsr 20 men aro employed, and the ordinary staff number? 17.. For sometime past tjio dining and dormitory accommodation 'for these officials has been tfixed to its utmost. Rooni'y quarters' are now .being; erected, just behind tamp-headquarters' for 'tbo use of tho opstal staff. -When these, are feady tho Ssoms in tho post office at present- 'used 3? dormitories will be available for office purposes.
