Writing lo a member of "Tho Press" staff from Grey Towers Gimp, Hornchurch, Essex, under dato of June 1, a momber of tho original Canterbury Infantry Battalion says:—A good'number of tho New Zealanders have been over from France of late, ami yesterday amount tho callers at Giv;y Towers were Keith Do Miius and W. Thompson, both members of the Cliristchurch lootball Club. Both commenced their sojdioring as privates, and each now holds the rank of sergeant-major. "Wally" Cooksou was over a short timo ago, looking as well as ever. Among tho men in camp j"6t now is Gordon Geimnell (Mcrivalo Football Club), whilo Brosnahau, who showed fair form on Christchurch football grounds, left for Franco a week or two back, lo try conclusions onco again with the enemy. "Tommy" Stockdill, D.C.M.. is here, and Holderness, tho line little boxor from Christ's College, left for New Zealand yesterday morning. Sergeant-Major Austin, another Main Body man, bus also returned to New Zealand. Ray Walker, of the First Canterbury Regiment, has been granted a commission, also "Garry" Upton. of tho 13th Eegiment.
