THE ALLEN DOONE SEASON

"THE PARISH PRIEST."

Last evening the Allen Doone Company revived "The Parish Priest." Tho piece is a pretty, play, full of charming sentiment, and Mr. Doouo's admir-' ors always, delight to know that they will have an opportunity of seeing and hearing him in tho role of aged and lovable Father Whalen. The play itsolf is ouo of tho most artistic in Mr. Doono's repertoire, and as Father Whalen Mr. Doono himself is seen to greater advantage than in most of life other parts. , The plot is attractive. It concerns the love affairs of a number of tho young people who form a portion of Father '"Whalen's flock. Hivahy in loye leads to many misunderstandings between tho parties concerned. Jealousy shows its unwelcome face, and the hot-headedness of tho youthful parties to tho drama threatens to precipitate an iiufortim'ato state 'of affairs'. The benign old parish priest, greatly concerned for the happiness of. his young people] lifts a tactful hand at a discreet moment, and dispels the browing storm. Tlio Father -Whalen of Mr. Doono is a fine pieco of acting. Serenely, without effort or apparent straining after effect, ho moves through the turmoil, a calm but strong personality. Tho other members of tlio company fill their parts admirably. To-night the Doone season will close. I The pieco to bo presented is "Molly. Bawn."
