TO WIN THE WAR
HELP THOSE WHO HELP THE EMPIRE. ' ' - ■ / To help win the "war is the grand purpose that still inspires young New Zealanders to risk life and limb. And the duty of those who have to stay at home is what? Undoubtedly it is to help.those who are helping the Empire—to succour our fighting men when they return. Many people may conclude that they have given enough to tho returned soldiers' iunds .because they have boiight a ticket or two in an art union or have contributed in cash to a street collection. But what is the donation of a shilling or two, or pounds, compared with the life of a soldier offered to tho God of War? People must keep on giving, and while they are agreeable to give again and again, an opportunity is offered to them to try their luck at the same time. Manawatu patriots have resolved to build a club for soldiers and sailors on the M'Hardy gift section at Palmerston North, and to raise funds a number of farmers have provided 2200 sheep for disposal by art union. Pull particulars will bo found on page 11 of this issue.''
