Macadamised roads are so called from john London Macadam, their inventor. The "Greenfields" herd of Ayrshire cattle, the property of Messrs. Webb and Sons, Xevin, will be sold by auction at tho Palmerston North Saleyards on July 27. The auctioneers, Messrs. Dalgety and Co.. stato that the herd consists of 18 heifers and bulls. Mr. J. Liddle, Tawa Flat, has instructed the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company to auction his herd of dairy stock on July 25 at Messrs. Taylor Bros.'s yards. The classes of St. Patrick's College will resume on July 24. The college reopens on Saturday next. - A list of 110 young cows. Shorthorn and Jersey cross, 87 Jersey heifers, and four Jersey bulls, the property of Mr. Charles Car, Newbuy Line, Palmerston North, will be sold by auction by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company on July 31 % ,
