A Press Association message announces tho arrival at London of tho O. and D. liner Niwaru, which left this port on May 14. MATATUA GOES TO ENGLAND. Tho local office of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Oompauy has been advised that the Matutua, which was damaged by fire and subsequently sunk ill the harbour of fit. John (Canada), has gone from that port to England to have her insulation renewed. In her present condition tho Matatua might bo ablt to bring general cargo to New Zealand, but she would not be ablo to carry back tho usual cargo of frozen meat and dairy produce, and she has, therefore, been sent to England to have the necessary work carried out. THE LUCKENBACH STEAMERS. . The Edgar Luckenbach, the first of the Luckenbacli Line of American steamers to visit New Zealand, arrived at Auckland yesterday mornincr, and thus inaugurated tho new New York-New Zealand service mentioued previously in Tjie Dominion. After discharging a portion of her cargo of case-oil at the" northern port, the vessel %vill come on to Napier and Wellington, being due here about August 6. She will subsequently visit the main southern ports. The Florence Luckenbach. another of the line, is due in Wellington /-any time now from New York. The vessel is of 4898 tons gros3 register, is 401 feet long, with 52.2 feet beam. She was built at Glasgow in 1910. After discharging about 2000 tons of general cargo here the vessel will proceed to Australian ports. The Florence Luckenbach will be followed by the Hettie Luckenbach, now on her way from New York.
An expected arrival this afternoon is the Cyrena from Singapore, via Sydney, with a cargo of ca6e-oil. The Moeraki should arrive from Lyttelton between 9 and 10 o'clock this morning, and 13 to leave for Sydney direct this evening. I The F. and S, liner Durham has been delayed at Sydnoy. and will not leaVo that port until t')-day. She is expected in Wellington on August 2. The doparture of the Stormbird for Wanganui has been put off until.Monday afternoon.
A Press Association message announces tho arrival at San Francisco of the R.M.6. Moana.
'Leaving Napier to-day the Kurow will make a call into Wellington for bunkers before proceeding to Newcastle. She should be here to-morrow, and it is ex*, pected to dispatch her for the Australian port the same evening.
Tho Kowhai is expected from the south to-day. She will load for Xew Plymouth, and is to get away to-morrow for that port.
The Canterbury Shipping Company's Calm is expected back at Wellington from the south on Monday next. The City of Colombo ia to leave for Auckland to complete discharge on Friday afternoon. Tho Himitangi arrived in port from the Chatham Islands, via Lyttelton. shortly after 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She, is to leave for the southern islands about noon to-day, calling only at Kaiantraroa and Owenga. v She will return to "Wellington' direct about Wednesday next. Tho Defender, due from the ' West Coast to-day will not get away for Picton and the coa?t until Saturday. According to the Sydney "Shipping List," tho barque M-anurewa left Newcastle for Wellington and Wanganui on Saturday lost.
