An interesting arrival at Lyttelton 011 mursday morning was the Japanese steamer Yecltigo Maru, with some 1400 tons of superphosphates from Japan. The vessel called at Sydney for discharging purposes before comi'ug- 011 to Lyttelton. aud experienced an uneventful passage across the Tasmau Sea. Built iu 1899, at Newcastle. by It. Stephenson and Co., the Yecltigo Maru was originally known as tho Pocasset, her dimensions being:—Length, 300 ft.: brc-adtli, 39.2 ft.; and depth, sft.
