FIFTH ANNUAL MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. The fifth annual meeting of the New Zealand Association of Public Schools of Great Britain was held at Messrs. Afurray, Roberts, and Co.'s office, Wellington, on Friday last. There was a small attendance. The following report was submitted and adopted:—"Owing to the war, Matters in connection witJi the association have been very quiet. During tho year four members joined the association, and application was made for the following schools to be added to our list, viz.,:—Merchant Taylors and Brighton College. Aji attempt was made to enrol all names of members 011 activo service, and so far u(i names are ,on tlio roll. This, however, may be very imperiect, owing to the enormous difficulty experienced in checking the Defence Department lists. Brigadier-General Sir A. H. Russell was awarded a K.C.'AI.G. after tho evaculation of Gallipoli, and every man of tho Forces will attest that it was a well-deserved honour. He is now in command of the New Zealand Forces in France. - . "It is with great regret that ive have to report this death of one of our distmgiiished_ members, the Hon. Sir Joshua Williams, of Major W. F. G. Levin, who was mortally wounded whilst superintending the evacuation of Gallipoli, and of Mr. F. H. Pvne, of Christcburch. "The cup presented by the association to the schools of the Empire shooting competition was won by the Auckland Grammar School (junior team). It is not proposed to hold the annual dinner this year. The amount standing to the credit of the association is ,£l9l 7s. Id., of which the sum of JJIGS 18s. lid. is 011 deposit. The committee recommend that the sum of JI2S be donated to the fund for widows and orphans of tlio Navy, and £25 to the British Bed Cross Fund. "It_was decided to ask His Excellency the Earl of Liverpool to accept the position of president for the ensuing year. Officers were elected as follow:—Vicepresidents: North Island, Mr. L. Stowe, C.M.G.; South Island, Mr. Alex. Boyle. Committee: Messrs. A. F. Roberts, H. It. Elder, D. W. Strang, li. S. Abraham, and Rev. A. IT. Johnson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. B. Stocker." It was resolved that a message of condolence be forwarded to the Hon. C. .T. Johnston, Speaker of the Legislative Council, in respect of the severe loss he has lately sustained by the deaths of his son, Captain 0. R. F. Johnston, his daughter, Mrs. W: Levin, and his son-in-law, Major Levin. ,
