MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL

'A meeting of tho Makara County Council was held yesterday morning, Mr. J. A. -Pyle presiding. A letter was received from tho Patea County Council, enclosing a motion condemning tho present system of including men 'of enemy parentago in the Keinforoement drafts. Tho council decided that this was entirely a matter for tho Defence Department. The county foreman reported that bridges Nos. 3 and i, at Tawa Flat, were finished, and two others required attention. He recommended that all'floodgates attached to bridges bo removed, as they caused impediment at times' of flood, and also that tho practice of putting rubbish over tho side of Gorge Road be stopped.
