Soldiers wcro even jeered at, and on April 22 a man won arrested lor threatening to shoot anyono in khaki. On Monday, April 24, the Sinn I'einers rushed through Dublin and captured several buildings, including tho General Post Office; tit. Stephen's Green, in tho heart of the oity, and hoistinu the llepublio Flag. They then started on the soldiers, and I and an Australian were fired on, but tho fellow was a bad ehot. Two officers were shot just ahead of us. Wo. then walked back and volunteered. Wo were equipped and held in j-eadiness, but were then surrounded, and were unable to start owing to lack of service men and ammunition. With « total of 44 men—l 3 colonials—tho other 3 raw recruits—we held the Bank of Ireland during the day. Tuesday, being Anzac Day, was well kept up, for tho Sinn Feiners came riding towards v», and we dropped them. During that day we killed six in one building, 20 iu another, and, snipers here and there. 'We were at last relieved by troops from England, when wo went out and captured the Western Railway Station. After tho whole trouble we had to do much liousi--senrching, and had a few casualties. I am back, again in England, fcej-ing Al, and none the wprse for tho fun. we had."
