Meteorological Office, Wellington, July 10, 1916. COMPLIMENTARY CONCERT
Those present at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last night were fortunate in hearing the excellent concert tendered to Mr. John M'C4lashan. A varied and excellent programme of vocal and instrumental items was submitted. Mr. Wili Goiulie sang the baritone song, "Friend of ■Mine," in Rood style, and in a duet with Mr. Wood," Battle Eve," also scored. A humorous sketch, "My Word," ■by Mr. I'i. Luks, made no end of merriment:, while a comedietta, "Photographed or Married," was played with admirable abandon by Mr. Norman Aitken and Miss V«re St. John. Miss Vere St. John was also forceful in a selected dramatic sketch. Mr. H. T. Wood sang the "Joy Bird" well, Mr. K. Dillon showed fair talent in a monologue, and Mr. 13. O'Connor made good in a baritone solo, "Let Mo Love Thee." Miss Richardson (soprano) and Mr. W. If. Bedell (xylophonist) contributed successfully. The orchestra, was under Mr. H. Cummins, and Mr. Holloway was accompanist.
