CAMPS AND THE MEN
NEWS AND APPOINTMENTS The foundations for the new officers' mess building at Featherston lmvo been put down, on a site opposite the camp gates. The building will bo very much larger than the present one, which has been found to be quite inadequate. Some critics of the plans of the now messroom, however, consider jhat it will not be' largo enough for requirements. - They also hold that th 6" arrangement of baring the kitchen at one end of the lonpr building will be inconvcuient. and tend to make tho serving of meals much slower than would be the case wore the kitchen situated off the centre of the messroom. There is a very large number of officers at Featlierston, and for their comfortable accommodation a roomy messroom is needed, especially as there are no places provided in the camp .for their rest and re'creation. There is 110 room in the camp where nil officer may go and sit by a '.fire, as soldiers may do at the Soldiers' Club and other .places. . Temporary Appointments.
