WELCOMED BY THE KING

OVERSEA PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATES A STIRRING ADDRESS Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Rcc. July 9, 5.5 p.m.) London, Jul* 8. • His Majesty the King, in welcoming the Oversea' Parliamentary, delegates, said: "It gives me much pleasure to welcome you, a* I fully recognise tlic aims,of your visit. It will promote intercourse- between the Mother Country and tlio Dominions, and maintain that constant interchange of ideas whidi helps to bridge the seas dividing the Empire. Fifteen years aso tho Queen and I visited tho" great Dominions, and we treasure the abiding recollections of loyalty and affection that were evinced on that unique and memorable tour. We, on our part, greet you to-day with feelings not less hearty and sincere, as representing those who, though separated by vast distances, have hastened across the oceans to support the Motherland in her hour of danger. Gloriouslv have they fulfilled that mission, sacrificing, their sons in our common cause, -and nlacing their wealth and, resources at the disposal of ourselves and our Allies. Never, so long as the Empire lasts, will the. heroism which has been immortalised on the battlefields of Anzac, Ypres, and Kongo be forgotten. v "During the past eighteen months it has been my pleasure to inspect the Dominion forces, and 1 can testify to the splendid quality of the men and the spirit of loyalty and devotion—of these they have given the amplest proot in tho faco of tho enemy. I trust that your stay here will be pleasant and instructive, and that every opportunity will be given you to estimate the efforts which arc being made to keep our Navy and Army efficient and bring tho war to a victorious end. We can learn much from each other, so it is my earnest hope that such visits will be frequent and fruitful, that, they, similarly, will be reciprocated by visits from the Mother Country to the Dominions, and that these will tend to consolidate the union of the Empire, which will be consecrated by tho memories of our common sacrifice and heroic determination to defend it."
