Lieutenant Kendall is the only son of Dr. Martindale Kendall, who is also on active service, being at present in charge of a large ambulance train. - Captain J. C. Smith, vN.Z.M.C., who underwent a serious operation last week in the Military Hospital,- Greytown, is now pronounced out of danger. Lieutenant-Colonel C. H. Turner, commanding the sth (Wellington) Regiment, has been'awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration, his service being 20 years 83 days. - Colonel G.'J. Smith, commanding the Canterbury Infantry Brigade, having served 20 years 20 days, has been awarded the Colouial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration. Hon. Lieutenant (Quartermaster) fniarlps IV Oowlev. of the 4th (Waikato) Mounted Rifles,, having served 27 years 135 days, has been awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-Service Medal. Last evening the staff of Messrs. A. and T. Burt, Ltd., presented to one of their fellow employees, Mr. S. Danks, a cheque, to mark the occasion of his approaching marriage. In making the presentation, on behalf of the _ firm and employees; Mr. T. R. Burt wished Mr. Danks even - happiness in' the future. Mr. G. Fiux.' headmaster of the South' Welliimtnu School since its opening in IS9G, will retire at the end of July, and ex-pupils are now considering the question of a fitting presentation..
