AN EASY WAY TO HELP
In yesterday's Dominion appeared an appeal that, should find an echo in the hearts of Wellington people. It takes the form of a circular letter, .issued by the War Relief .Association,' ' soliciting' citizens to become members of that bo'dy,.in order to ensure a steady and reliable' source of. income'to the organisation which is performing such necessary and responsible work in. connection with our returned wounded'soldiers and, their'dependants, an'cl also for relieving the hardships ensuing upon th-; deaths of the breadwinners . of. families. Naturally, when this body licit came into existence it consisted of those gentlemen who decided that they would give their time and attention to the task of seeing thatthe funds so generously given uy the public arc properly administered, and, now that such matters have ; been placed on a satisfactory footing, it is desired that there should' exist a wider and more enthusiastic interest in the work of the assocation, not only in the way of raising money by subscriptions, but in the actual work of the body, which is at any time open to the fullest investigation by those interested. Already several gentlemen of leisureand above the military age have offered their services to the association, and have done a great deal of valuable, work which must be . appreciated by the community.. Others there may be who have the a'bility, time, and inclination to assist, for whom helpful work may bo found. But at least it is competent for anyone to show his patriotism in a sub-. stantial way by enrolling his name as a member of this association, and in that manner assist to build up a substantial revenue, apart from the special, efforts that will .no.doubt be made from time to time by other hcd.ies.to supplement the fund for sick and wounded soldiers and their dependants. In that direction the Wellington Patriotic Society has done notable good work, and it must ue intensely gratifying to the mcm"ber- of that society to realise the splendid backing their efforts' have been given not only by the citizens of Wellington, but by the people of the district. Anyone ' may becomo an annual nVember on payment of .56., arid, a'life member. on. payment of £3. os.. to the secretory (Mr. "Wills), at the- office of tho association, on Lambton Quay.
