NATIONAL RESERVE

On Tuesday evening an enjoyable smote concert was held, Ijy the . Island llayoerhamporo Company, o[ the National Keserye, in the Bei-hamporc Hall. The U.C., Major T. AVells, presided. In* strumental. items were contributed by Messrs. C. E. and F. Proctor, F. Huggins, and H. Marshall. Songs l>y A. Thomas, (x. Hand, A. Mollinson, -»shennan, 1\ juggins, C. Proctor. A. Thomas, Lieut. Haslam, and recitations by .Mr/ A. A. AVhitelaw and Lieuts. Haslam and Taylor. During 'the course;of the evening the chairman, on behalf of the company, presented Lieut. A. 0. Taylor, who is at present in camp at Trentham, with a serviceable set of officers' sundries* consisting of a night-marching compass, rotameter, fountain pen, and writing set, as a mark of the high esteem in whicn he is held by A. Company of the Reserve. Lieut. Taylor, in aefcnoviadging the pre-' sentation, specially mentioned the great assistance which the traininx he had received In the National Reserve has been to him out at Trentham. A further presentation made by Lieut. C. Haslam consisted of the prizes gained in 'the last shooting competition. The successful competitors were I\ A gate first, G. Cade second, with F. Harinan as runner up.
