AN EX-CONSUL'S HEALTH
CASE 01? MR. SBEGNER.
The medical reports regarding Sir. Cart Secguer, ex-German Consul at .Auckland, who was lately allowed to leave the internment camp at Motuihi Maud, neat Auckland, were laid on the tablo of the Housa yesterday by the. Minister of Defence. !
Colonel Talbot, P.J1.0. at Auckland, in reporting on April 15, stated: "Carl Sccgner is a rather frail old man, who suffers froni diabetes. He is 69 yeara of age. His health has become rather worse since lie has been interned at Motuihi Island. There is always the possibility that be may beoome seriously ill owing to mental anxiety and change of diet acting on the diabetes,' and oau6ing diabetic ooma. In my opinion, it is advisable' to send'him back to his home, where'lie could bo kept undoi guard or surveillance if necessary." On April 27. Colonel Talbot further reported. as follows"Carl Seegner's health has changed for the- worse of late. He fainted a few days ago, and is becoming more feeble. I recommend that ho bo removed from Motuihi Island and sent to his own home, as I fear his life will be endangered by longer residence on tho island." -x On May 25, Surgeon-General Henderson reported:—"l consider that Carl Seeg. ner should be returned to his own hom« as soon as possible, as from Colonel' Talbot's certificate he may die if left where ho is." . '
