BOYS' INSTITUTE
At the- last meeting- of the Management Committee of the "Boys' . Istitute, the director, in his ; monthly report,' ntimated that the membership now comprised over 21)0 boys. Some 2287 boys have passed under the control" of the institute in eight 'weeks. Two life-saving classes are now in progress, attended by 40 boys, who are going up for their elementary certificate. The boys are being taught Bwimming, on Monday and Thursday evenings, and it is stated that already quite a number of tho boys have made splendid progress, and bid fair to become good swimmers. The reading room and library aro taken every, advantage of by the boys, the' lending department proving of immense service. Tho war books, magazines, an;l, jeriodicals, a-o a eoureo o£ great intefeat to all. In the gymnasium tlio games aro keenly contasted. Tho nistituta have Ove team's participating iu ihe.camo »f "Snerer" ovtiry Snturday. Old Bova aro rallying round tbo institute, and" oach evening supervise in the games room, reading room, and gymnasium, an<l also render splendid assistance in connection with the teaching of the boys swimming.
