He would havo us b( lievo there is'little or no restriction on tho liquor traffic in the States. To correot the misleading impression his remarks might convey, let ine briefly, state the real position, of affairs in tho great Republic: Nineteen States have carried State-wide prohibition; several others aro mainly prohibition, while in November next seven States will vote on o. Stato-wido is% sue. More than CO millions, or about 65 per cent, of. the population, livo under prohibitory laws; The Government prohibits the liquor traffio among Indians, in military lorts, in the 'Navy, in the National Capitol, and in other specified areas under Federal control. This is a different story from tljat of Mr. L. A. Edwards's.—l am, etc., , OBSERVER. .
