LICENSING COMMITTEE
A meeting of the Licensing Committed was htTu yesterday morning to deal with the application of S. .1. Whiteford, of tho Central Hoetl, for a renewal of tho license for that house.. Air. W. G. lliddell, S.AL, .presided. This application was deferred from the last sitting of the committee for tho purpose of giving the licensee an opportunity of complying with, the police requirements as to accommodation for tho travelling public. \ / ■' Inspector Hendrey reported that Sublii*pector Alackinnon had since the last sitting of the Bench visited the Central uotel. The rooms complained of had been satisfactorily repaired and repapcr<d. All.additional bedroom had been set aside for the use of tho travelling public, and a sitting room had also been refurnished. There were now five bedrooms and ono sitting room at the disposal of tho public,, and that being so tho requirements, of tho law and the police werft safisTiefl. ?ho committee accordingly granted a renewal of the license, and adjourned the annual meeting till September i, when the renewal of licenses to tho Albion, Imperial, New Zealandor, find. Thistle Inn Hotels will be Considered.
