CHARGE OF CATTLE-STEALING

By Telegraph—I 'ress Association. Taumarunui, June 20. James Binns, of Alniierc, was charged at Tauinarunui to-day with cattle stealing. Sergt. lliller conducted (ho ease for the prosecution, and J[r. Finlny nppearcd for the defence. Evidence was given that two steers,, owned by .Mr. A. S. Baker, of Matioro, were stolen, and the ear marks tampered with. Accused pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence, tie was committed to the Supreme Court for trial at Hamilton. Bail was allowed in ■£200. John Kelly, sen., was charged with aiding and abetting, but the case was withdrawn, on the application of the police.
