WELLINGTON CENTRE'S AN.V-.t ' MEETING. Mr. P. Meadowcrofl, vice-president, occupied the chair at the animal meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre last evening. The election of officers resulted as. follows President, Mr. F. Meadowcroft; vice-president, uMr. S. IT. Underwood; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr, .J. J. Hoberts; lion, auditor, Mr. .T. A. Kinnibnrg. The executive committee is to consist of one delegate from each' clu.b.

Tlie following were nominated for office on the council of tho Dominion Bowling Association:—President, Colonel R. J. Collins; vice-president, Dunodin Cen--Ire's nomineej treasurer, Mr. A. F. I'Wler (I'etone Club); members of the council, Messrs. G. Allport, S. H. Underwood, ]•]. J. Hill, V. Dimock, and J, S. Keith. The chairman presented the A and 1> pennants.won Inst season, and congratulated the' respective winners on their success, It was resolved to increase the levy from each club by 20 per cent., as compared with last ytv.r. The programme for next season's championship matches has been fixed lis follows:—Champion pairs, February 28; champion singles, March 6; champion rinks, March 13. NEWTOWN CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. Mr. C. M. Luke, president presided over a large attendance, of meniotrs ul the annum ■ meeting of Hie i/ewtown Bawling Club on Wednesday. Alter some discussion the report ami balancesheet was adopted on the motion of. the president. Special mention was nadc of the great services rendered to the club in the past by Messrs. I'aukhurst, CaU'icr, and l'rince, uud they, together with the retiring directors, were warded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr. John Danks was elected a life member of the club as a nuu'k of the. members' hearty appreciation of the great assistance he has given to the club since its inception. The following were elected to office:— Mr. C. M. Luke, president; Mr. G. Scott, vice-president; Mr. J. \\. Salmon, hou. treasurer; Mr. S. H. Underwood, lion, secretary; Messrs. I'aukhurst, l.'anson, Noble, i'owell, and 'John Brackenriilge, directors;' Messrs. A. W. Maiming and W. A. Roberts, hon. auditors; and Mr. S. H. Underwood delegate to the centre. The various trophies won during the year ivero presented to the winner,*.' Messrs. Levestam and Wylie (s.), winners of the club's pairs, requesting that their prize be. given to the Mayor's Tuiid in aid of the Navy Dependants. Mr. Laughton presented a handsome enlargement of his team, which won the Dominion Tournament to the club, and was heartily thanked by the meeting. Mr. Hanson's motion to increase the annual subscription was earned. ' A proposal by Mr. C. Swiney to reorganise the method of choosing pennant players was lost. < THOKNDON CLUB'S ANNUAL REPORT. The twenty-first annual report and balance-sheet of the directors of tho Thorndon Bowling Club announces an improvement in the financial position of the club, the rear having closed with a credit balance of JEli'J 17s. M. At the commencement of the.year there was au overdraft, of .£ll7 Os. fld., and accounts unpaid amounting to close on X'so. It was absolutely necessary to take steps to moot these demands, and to tins end an advance of & cash (without interest) was readily made by several monitors ;to carry on "the club until the subscriptions, etc., were paid. It is regretted that the membership has decreased, and urgont measures are required to ba taken to effect an .improvement in this respect. The thanks of the club are due to several members for then- we.icoinc assistance on tho green and in other respects, which has greatly reduced the expenditure on account of wages, llio "i-ccns last season were a source ot great trouble to the committee, chiefly owing to tho presence of the grass grub. Great care has been taken to cope witn this nesi Both greens have been thoroughly forked over, lop-dressed, and grass-sown, and treated with lime and special pestdc'itroyer. it is hoped that this may improve tho greens, and give good results for next season.
