VOGELTOWN'S WANTS
DEPUTATION TO THE COUNCIL. ' A deputation, consisting of Messrs. • G. D. Hewitt, G. Fisher, and Mrs. Donaldson (with a big backing of residents of Vogeltown), waited on the City Council last evening to impress upon the council the manner in which that district had been neglected in the past, and to Tirgo that more monev should be spent in opening up the district. In his reply the Mayor quoted as follows to show the money spent and rates gathered from the various outlying districts during the year 1915-IG:— Bates. Kelburu 1.50S 3,722 Northland ■.. 1,770 '-',058 Kilbirnie .; s,lG(i 10,358 Koseneath EOo 'M "Wadestown •. 1,029 . 1,330 Vogeltown ' 352 ■'■: ' 562 The Mayor also stated that the amounv. .of .£IOOO (mentioned by ono speaker), had never been placed on the estimates tor Vogeltown, and consequently it . was never cut out. There was a preliminary draft on which ;filooo appeared, but it was found that the expenditure had. to ■synchronise with the revenue, and the amount was deleted. The door had' not been slammed in face of Vogoltown. They had a lot: to do, but he could assure them that no lime would be lost in regard to the new road.
