KHANDALLAH DEBATING SOCIETY
There was a large attendance of members at the weekly meeting of tho above society held on Tuesday evening, when the subject was a debate "That war lends to develop a higher type of national character than peace does." 'I'll': affirmative was taken by Miss Sunder land, Messrs. CI. Burt, E. Cowles, A. Evans, W. Appleton. and ,T. M. Dale, while Messrs. 0. It. Luke, A. E. Burge, N. N. M. Itogben, A. E. Budil, JI. 1,. .Taines, and .1. Casey spoke in support of (lie negative. The .Rev. ,T. Gumming, M.A., acted as judge of the debate, and the victory was awarded to the negative side. It was decided to hold the first rehearsal of "The Merchant of Venice" on Thursday,., Tune 20, when Mr. George Hogbon, M.A.', C.M.G., will act as master of ceremonies.
