'ME POLICE. REPORT. Tho annual report on the police fprce of the Dominion shows that 011 March 31 last the strength of, 1 the force was 91G of all ranks, being anfire for the year. The increase in offences- showed an. aggregate net increase of 819 on the previous year. There were 173 prosecutions on charges of sly grog-selling, and 130 convictions during the • year, as against .171 prosecutions and 127" convictions in the previous year. Tho fines imposed for sly grog-selling lust year amounted lo ,£'2715. There were 241 prosecutions. resulting in 181 convictions, during tho ytia.r under tho gaming laws, us against '270 prosecutions and 228 convictions in 19H.
