TRANSPORT WORKERS
, CONFERENCE TO-DAY. A conference of representatives, of transport workers' organisations will open in Wellington this morning. The gathering, whiah- was called by the United Federation of Labour, is to consider tho possibility of organising a Transport Workers' Federation, or arriving at some understanding for mutual, assistance fry the unions. Tho organisations which have signified their intention of being represented are tho Waterside Workers' Fedoration, tho Drivers' Federation, the Fm-gine-drivers', Firemen, and Cleaners' Association, the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, and the Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch Tramways Unions.
