A HOMELESS GIRL At yesterday's sitting of tho i'agistrate's Court Mr. D. G. A. Cooper occupied the Bench. A young girl, named Bertha Ogden, who gave her age as 28, was charged with being an idle and disorderly person. . .Inspector Hendrcy said that. Ogdcn , had been found wandering about the streets in a homeless condition. "Something must be done for this poor, uni fortunate girl," continued the Inspector,' "and I suggest that she bo remanded and placed in the Salvation Home for a week, so that inquiries concerning her parentage can be made." His Worship agreed to this course, and made an order to that effect.

PLATE-GLASS WINDOW. BROKEN.. liobert Gouller, a. one-legged man, appeared to. answer a charge of having damaged a plate-glass window, valued at ,£ls, the property of S. G. Radford. At a flitting of the Juvenile Court a boy of ten years of age was charged with the theft of three pocket-knives, one cigarette-lighter, and an iron-handle (the total value of the articles being lis.), the property of Cliarles Sims. After severely admonishing the lad. His Worship ordered him to receive twelvo strokes of the birch. A young girl was convicted and severely cautioned for having broken into tho house of Reginald Robinson. A girl aged 111 years was committed to tho Wellington Receiving Homo/ as His Worship held the opinion, after hearing lengthy evidence, that sho was not under proper control. In defining the words "not under control," the Magistrate held that fche.v meant "not properly looked after;" An order was maile that the father, James Browne, of Nalliai, should pay 10s. per week towards his daughter s support. CIVIL CASES CLAIM CONCERNING A FILTER; . ITeserved judgment was delivered by Mr. ,IV. G. Riddell, S.M., in tho action in which Richardson, M'Cabe, and Co., Ltd., sought to recover from A. and T. Burt, Ltd., tho sum of £21 4s. Gd. The dispute arose out of a transaction respecting tho supply of a filter by plaintiffs to the Boys' Institute. Tho Magistrate, after reviewing the evidence, gave judgment for plaintiffs for £8, with costs 18s. Each of the parties to the_ dispute were ordered to pay their own witnesses' and solicitors' expenses. A BUILDING TRANSACTION. Arch. C. M. Sinclair, builder, proceeded against Elizabeth L. Parker, wife of C. Parker, commercial traveller, of Ferry Road, Day's Bay, for the sum ot £100 ss. 4d., being the balanco alleged to bo due to plaintiff of an amount of £56!> ss. id. The claim aroso out of the erection of a house at Day's Bay. The building cost .£173 3s. Id. to put up, and extras amounted to ,£6B 2s. 3d., making a tota" of £565 ss. ic\.
