The member for Christchurcli East (Dr. Thacker) stated in the House yesterday that contractors for the Defence Department were sweating snb-contractors and pieceworkers. He had a letter from a ffirl in Hast Christchurcli, who was being' paid at the very low rate of 3s. 3d. per dozen for making soldiers' shirts.
